Pitch

My 4–5-minute mockumentary aims to entertain through comedy whilst also educating my audience the struggles of clashing ideas. The film is targeted towards teens as they are more likely to be engaged with the genre. The film will be uploaded onto the Jinjasnap Youtube channel as that is where they’re is most likely to view it. The themes used will be teamwork, and overconfidence. 3 young, aspiring workers attempt to create a film, but with clashing ideals and a director in over his own head, that may prove difficult . The characters include; an egotistical, director, an actor who is full of themselves. Finally, there is a grounded editor. None of them are given names to help the audience relate. The film starts with an interview with the director, who believes that the documentary is being made as of rumours that the film is going to do incredible numbers. We find out however, that the editor called them in to expose the director. This is followed by footage that shows off th...

Budget

Image
I have put together a spreadsheet for a budget for my short film to better grasp how much needs to be spent to successfully produce the film. I used Microsoft Excel as I could use formulas to add up the total and the cells make it easier then making a table on Word. This shall allow the final film to have a balance in quality in regards to cast, editing, and equipment used.

Financial Models

Image
I have decided to create a table to display the pros and cons of the different methods of financing my film. Through this I have decided to use crowd funding to finance the film as it is a short film the money required for said film won't be as large and people may be more encouraged to pay towards it. This process involved a lot of research into the different methods and distinguishing the good and the bad aspects of each. Overall the final film should look more professional as I have planned out the spending properly.

Mockumentary Examples

Image
The Majestic Plastic Bag             Kevin             The Bear I have decided to take a look at over examples of mockumentaries to borrow ideas and gestures on how mockumentaries should look, run, play out and more. I have also analysed them in comparison to each other to find similarities and differences. This should help give the film a smoother production schedule as I know what I want in it and to get out of it. To get these examples I searched up on YouTube the term 'Mockumentary,' and selected 3 of similar length to final film. I then put the name of each one onto the word document along with the link. I then proceeded to list all aspects of the film I could find.

Ideas for Short Film

Image
I have decided that for my short film I would like to go with the first idea presented on the table above as I believe that is where I can be most creative with the production overall. I decided to make this table to easily present the main aspects of the potential films and make an ultimate decision quicker. I already came up with first idea before making the table so to widen my view I made adjustments to the character's situations to end up with 3 altogether. This should therefore end up with a product that overall comes across as more alive and entertaining to watch, as I am enjoying the process of production and this may transfer onto the screen.

Action Plan

Image
I have created this action plan to help the scheduling throughout the production and make sure the deadlines are hit appropriately. This also acts as a check list so if something has not been done then I have a reminder that it is yet to be done. I have decided to spilt up the timing into half terms and then further into weeks that span the pre-production window. This will be updated with year 2 closer to the time. I have colour co-ordinated the different half terms and production phases to make it easier to follow. This should make the final product looking more professional (in regard to editing, cinemaphotography and more) as we have all this prep to keep us on track.

Learning Aim A: Pre-Production Report

When putting a film together, many sections of work go into the main and post-production. However, it is fundamental that your pre-production elements are handled with the same level of professionalism and respect to deal with it appropriately to avoid issues later down the line and streamline the entire process. This is what I’m here to write about, to guide you on how to effectively carry out your pre-production content for your projects, as instructed by the local council. Finance When it comes to putting together the finance side of your film you must make sure that what you are doing is not only beneficial but also appropriate for you. This is shown with the documentary ‘One Mile Away,’ which went down the path of crowd funding, this proved to be insanely effective as the documentary covered the lives of those that would be funding the project itself making it more likely for them to put their hard-earned money towards it. The film also didn’t require a large budget as of...
